The rooms to the front (I was in 401) suffered from severe traffic noise - did not seem to matter if windows were open or closed. Not really able to sleep
The bathroom was clean by pretty shabby - tile grouting obviously poorly repaired, bath panels suffering from damp, alll probably old and time expired - needs to be properly and completely refurbished - does not warrant its star status or cost - many B&B's offer better rooms.
Top Tip
Take ear plugs to block out road noise.

We had a room on the front which we found rather noisy with traffic but apart from that everything else was excellent
Top Tip
Bus service very good from outside hotel to all the various sightseeing places.

Clean hotel. friendly staff. Expensive breakfast for what you get, but other than that a nice, pleasant place to stay. Hotel is about 5 min walk from
haymarket station and about 15-20 from middle of Edinburgh

We stayed here for the end of the Dallaglio Cycle Slam and watched the England Scotland match at Murrayfield. The hotel was very convenient for that, but maybe not so good if you wanted to be in the city centre which we didn't.
Top Tip
Visited the castle while there, although we were a little short on time, which is why we picked that! The view from there was amazing and we had perfect weather for it.
