At 5am the hot water system is turned on and the pipes vibrate violently for 30 secs (imagine a spanner being bashed against the pipes). Bread Street is a thoroughfare between the centre and Lothian Road - you won't get any sleep until 4.30am at the weekends as hoards of stag parties shout their way down the street, having finished in the strip bars nearby.

Hotel very clean and tidy. The room we were in was on Bread Street and was quite noisy with traffic and people visiting bars nearby. Hot water tap too hot!

Only there for weekend...not enough time to see all. Very nice Italian Restuarant off Princess street but can;t remember the name!

Its a minimalist design but it lacks style, if i had designed this hotel i would give up for good.
It lacks warmth, and is not a comfortable environment.
It has so many faults architecturally and spacialy i dont know where to start...BUT who picked the old fashioned bentwood dining chairs in a modern hotel..YUCK! if you want style pay for it.
if i had been the architect for this job i would have shot myself.
cheap, cheerful and a bed for the night if your not looking for anything else its ok

From making our reservation, receiving the hotel voucher and check-in, our experience was very professional, efficient, easy and without any problems. The hotel & it's staff (Mercure Point Hotel, Edinburgh) was extremely comfortable, pleasant, friendly & helpful at all times.
Thanking you all.

We did change rooms - the first room we were given at the back of the hotel was long and narrow and very claustrophobic... The bottom of the bed almost hit the towering facing wall! We had a wake up call the first morning at 7am and hadn't asked for one which was very annoying...

On arrival I was told that I had no reservation I was left standing for 20 minutes and still told no reservation I had shown my printed email but I was told we would be given a twin room for the night and that they were booked for the following days but they would try and do something. There was no twin room so we were put in their top room. I was worried all night if we were going to have somewhere to stay the following night. In the morning I was told I could stay where I was but they wouldnt tell me why I had this problem on arrival. Also they had no car park and we had to park in a paid parking area which cost £75 and we werent told until we had paid for the car park that there was a 10% discount before payment of car park.

Take the open tour bus you get to see most of the city. Hard Rock Cafe was very good.
