Friendly staff, good facilities with a great selection of food at breakfast and fabulous pool and spa. Great location for sightseeing, although a little noisy in the rooms due to the pubs, but the lower rooms have got an extra glass panel on the windows that help a lot - would recommend they put these in place even in the higher rooms. Booking was slightly wrong when arrived - had double room instead of twin - was moved to a different room for the next night and we were given a bottle of wine as an apology - nice touch!

Would recommend purchasing the grand plus ticket that you can pick up on one of the tour buses, which gives you unlimited access to 4 tour buses plus a boat cruise. The fudge kitchen on the Royal Mile sells gorgeous fudge and you can watch them make it and try free samples. Loads to see and do!

This is an excellent hotel, but some rooms look out onto noisy nightclubs and the double glazing, excellent though it is, cannot eliminate noise completely. Facilities for smokers is somewhat limited.

The best restaurant we found during our four day stay was The Glasshouse Off the Mile.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I emailed in advance as it eas a suprise for my wife's birthday & they ensured we were given a room overlooking the Royal Mile. We arrived early morning & checking our bags in was no problem at all. The location is superb and the hotel very clean & comfortable.
