Very central, excellent staff, most helpful. Good standsard of room - food excellent especially breakfasts Parking outside door but very costly and restricted in time, best to use multistorey cental parking area about 10 mins walk which attracts a 15% discount from hotel Alltogether an excellent hotel and attractive pricing deal.
Top Tip

i have stayed in lots of 4@5 star hotels in the city, in my oppinion this is up there with the best, its location on the top of george street is perfect for a nite on the town. you are spoilt for choice in pubs, clubs @resteraunts. the hotel itself is spotless and the staff are super friendlly. when checking in ask for a room on the side of the complex as their is noise at the back due to bins being emptied in the wee hours.
Top Tip

The George Hotel, Edinburgh is in a fantastic location, has stylish accommodation, excellent staff and good choices at breakfast.

Any of the Edinburgh Festivals are always of interest but loads to do at any time of the year. The Dome (directly opposite The George Hotel) is fantastic for a drink/meal/afternoon. tea. Their christmas decorations alone draw people in off the street to take pics!

We would recommend with reservation. Our bedroom (357) was clean, comfortable and well furnished and equipped, but VERY noisy and caused us to have bad nights sleep. It is situated 'on a bridge' between the old and new buildings and under it ran a service road that was well used at night, including refuse collection. The first night we had the window open because we couldn't switch off the heating. But even with the window closed it was noisy. We assume this room is used for 'special offers'.
Top Tip
1 Check on location of the bedroom within the hotel.
2 We did not eat in the hotel. The charge for breakast was too high for us and we had excellent breakfasts at the Scottish Cafe in the National Gallery (one of our favourite venues). We are also vegetarians and Edinburgh is well served by some excellent veggie restaurants.

We had a first floor room at the front of the hotel and it was a Friday night so it was noisy until after 2am with music from within the hotel and people on the street, I think it was a wedding party. The double glazed windows did not work. Overall it did not spoil our stay as we did not have an early start but it could have done.
Top Tip
No parking at the hotel, on street parking expensive during the day £2-50/hour limited to 3 hours. Free parking overnight until 8-30am on street if you can find a space.NCP carpark a good 10minute walk away cost £22 for 24hours!
