This hotel was great for our purpose but couldn't stay there for more than a night ot two. Big room, pretty clean but very basic and dated. I've travelled a lot and continental breakfast what not what we got. Luckily we were happy with a few slices of toast rather than cereal or old fruit salad.

It's a bit of a walk from Waverley Station, but worth it. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are quiet and clean. The TV requires careful reading of instructions to turn on and off, and the Wi Fi (costing 5 pounds per stay) was very weak in the room, but the staff happily offered to refund that money and let us use the reception WiFi. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful.

Top Tip

Edinburgh is wonderful to experience. One local pub/restaurant (Ryan's) on the way to this hotel is a place to avoid. Another customer carelessly dragged his clothing through my food in front of the waitress, ruining the meal, but there were no offers to replace the food, and the waitress claimed that it wasn't the establishment's fault, so made me pay for it even though it was not my fault and was inedible. A very bad attitude for a "hospitality" industry. Edinburgh Castle is a must see and an easy walk from Princes Street and the hotel.

Lovely hotel. Small and quiet. very clean. Location not to far from main street and lots of bars nearby

The hotel had no lift. We were 78 stairs up (we counted) and the room was drab, with bath taps that wouldnt turn off, and were an irritation. Breakfast fruit salad was tinned peaches, you get the picture. It was clean, and the location wasnt bad, but those were the best things about it.
